BB Dakota Ore My Darling Dress

BB Dakota Ore My Darling Dress

It’s never too early to plan your New Years Eve outfit, and I just found this great, twirl-worthy frock I wanted to share for those of us still on the hunt for the perfect dress. BB Dakota makes this darling silver and taupe dress with a sequined bodice and full A-line skirt that is just the right amount sparkle and subtle. I like that this dress is subdued enough to work with just about any festive shoe or accessory, but still is dazzling on its own. A great dress for just about any dress code on New Years.

Although I feel we’ve featured a lot of sequinned pieces lately, there was something about this Vince number I couldn’t quite escape from posting about. Perhaps it’s the relaxed, t-shirt style fit, or the always classic, sparkling gold sheen. Whatever the case, I think this tunic is a perfect style for any body type, and is an instant classic paired with opaque black tights and booties, perfect for you guessed it, New Years Eve! Dress up with a top knot and ornate chandelier earrings, or down with a mens watch and a clutch outfitted in rugged hardware. I mean, you really just can’t go wrong with this dress.

Whatever you wear out tomorrow night, be sure to have a happy and safe New Years! Thanks for making 2011 our busiest blog year yet. We’ll see you back here in 2012.

West Village Fete Dress

West Village Fete Dress

Thinking about wearing this dress on New Years Eve? Color me green with envy. It’s been a while since I’ve written about a one-shoulder dress, so let’s drool over this one together in this week’s edition of Modcloth Monday. This dress, which pays homage to one of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC, incorporates a simple but chic sheath shape with a solid sequin weave throughout. The gorgeous emerald-peridot shade makes for a more subdued dazzle, whereas a gold or silver solid sequin dress may be for the more bold to pull off, but the green really gives you some room to play with shiny accessories and shoes. You may very well find me on NYE in this dress, paired up with metallic peep-toe pumps and elegant drop earrings. Only if Santa brings me a Modcloth gift certificate, that is.

It may be barely past Halloween, but I’m already looking ahead for holiday parties, shopping and all the fabulous outfits to plan for. Coated in shimmering paillettes (sequins’ sparkly older sister), this glittering sheath dress has a slim fit, v-neck, and 3/4 length sleeves, which gives it an overall classy feel, making it atop my holiday wardrobe wishlist. I can already see this pairing well with dark British Racing Green nail polish and plum lips, or black suede pumps and simple onyx jewelery, what about you?
