With the weather finally warming up, the fear that summer may never happen is subsiding and it’s time to start thinking about updating your summer wardrobe.
It is officially time to pack away the woolies for next year, and remember how to dress for the summer time with days in the park, nights out without shivering, and festival season to look forward to.
But what are the biggest trends of SS17? We’ve cast our minds back to the catwalks of London, Paris, New York, and Milan Fashion Weeks to bring you the rundown on what you should be keeping an eye out for on your next shopping trip.
Slogan tees
Let your tee do the talking and get involved with this summer’s slogan tee trend. While slogan tees have never really been hard to come by, with brands like Dior, Moschino, and Gucci embracing slogans and logos on the catwalks this year they’re set to be big.
So where should you turn to embrace this trend? Missy Empire are embracing the trend in a big way, browse their collection of tops here.
Bralettes
As sported by Kendall Jenner regularly, she also strutted out onto the catwalk in one for Alexandra Wang at New York Fashion Week, and she wasn’t the only one. Alexander McQueen, Victoria Beckham, and Céline were among the many to include bralettes in their repertoire for this season.
Bralettes may be seen by some as akin to wearing underwear as outerwear, but with the hotter weather approaching, love them or loathe them, there will be plenty coming to a high street store near you soon.
Eighties
What goes around always comes back around, and 80s fashion is most definitely back for 2017. Metallics are going to be big, and so are shoulders.
Take inspiration from the likes of Kenzo, Isabel Marant, and Balenciaga and bust out those short minis and neon spandex to make a big statement the next time you hit the town!
Stripes
If you embrace one pattern this season, take inspiration from Mulberry, Balmain, and Victoria Beckham and make it stripes.
Statement stripes were everywhere during the catwalk shows, but we’re not talking subtle stripes, but full-on statement stripes. Don’t be scared to bust out the head to toe stripes, or mix and match different stripes within an outfit.
Pink
Don’t be scared to go bright with this trend. Think pink and embrace the boldness this summer. Celine, Balenciaga, and Valentino all showed us how it was done on the runway this year, and Gucci’s entire show was pink themed in Milan!
Wondering whether to sneak pastels into your outfits or go head to toe fuschia? Instyle have put together this great guide to mastering this trend which you can peruse here.
Hopefully this has given you some inspiration as to what you’ll want to be rocking this summer, so what are you waiting for, dust off your debit cards and hit the high street!
