5 Women’s Fashion Trends To Take Note Of This Summer

With the weather finally warming up, the fear that summer may never happen is subsiding and it’s time to start thinking about updating your summer wardrobe.

It is officially time to pack away the woolies for next year, and remember how to dress for the summer time with days in the park, nights out without shivering, and festival season to look forward to.

But what are the biggest trends of SS17? We’ve cast our minds back to the catwalks of London, Paris, New York, and Milan Fashion Weeks to bring you the rundown on what you should be keeping an eye out for on your next shopping trip.

Slogan tees

Let your tee do the talking and get involved with this summer’s slogan tee trend. While slogan tees have never really been hard to come by, with brands like Dior, Moschino, and Gucci embracing slogans and logos on the catwalks this year they’re set to be big.

So where should you turn to embrace this trend? Missy Empire are embracing the trend in a big way, browse their collection of tops here.

Bralettes

As sported by Kendall Jenner regularly, she also strutted out onto the catwalk in one for Alexandra Wang at New York Fashion Week, and she wasn’t the only one. Alexander McQueen, Victoria Beckham, and Céline were among the many to include bralettes in their repertoire for this season.

Bralettes may be seen by some as akin to wearing underwear as outerwear, but with the hotter weather approaching, love them or loathe them, there will be plenty coming to a high street store near you soon.

Eighties

What goes around always comes back around, and 80s fashion is most definitely back for 2017. Metallics are going to be big, and so are shoulders.

Take inspiration from the likes of Kenzo, Isabel Marant, and Balenciaga and bust out those short minis and neon spandex to make a big statement the next time you hit the town!

Stripes

If you embrace one pattern this season, take inspiration from Mulberry, Balmain, and Victoria Beckham and make it stripes.

Statement stripes were everywhere during the catwalk shows, but we’re not talking subtle stripes, but full-on statement stripes. Don’t be scared to bust out the head to toe stripes, or mix and match different stripes within an outfit.

Pink

Don’t be scared to go bright with this trend. Think pink and embrace the boldness this summer. Celine, Balenciaga, and Valentino all showed us how it was done on the runway this year, and Gucci’s entire show was pink themed in Milan!

Wondering whether to sneak pastels into your outfits or go head to toe fuschia? Instyle have put together this great guide to mastering this trend which you can peruse here.

Hopefully this has given you some inspiration as to what you’ll want to be rocking this summer, so what are you waiting for, dust off your debit cards and hit the high street!

Altair Beauty Chevron Print Vegan Makeup Brushes

Altair Beauty Chevron Print Vegan Makeup Brushes

As you all know, I’m a self-proclaimed beauty junkie. I’m also quite OCD about having enough clean makeup brushes on hand, so I own quite the brush collection. This comprehensive set of professional makeup brushes  by Altair Beauty really has it all, and it’s the next purchase I’m making space for in my brush hoard. First off, there’s a brush for nearly every use case. Need to apply eyeshadow, eyebrows, lip products, concealer, foundation, setting powder, contour, or blush? You’re seriously covered and then some. Second, the brush hairs are high quality soft synthetic fibers that can work for both powder and cream products, without shedding off excessively. Lastly, I can’t write this post and not mention the adorable pink chevon print handles that are so original and fun. At $29.99, you just can’t beat the value of this set. Plus, it includes a traveling case so it makes for a perfect holiday gift.

Miranda Kerr’s “Joyce Dartry” Park Print Dress by Erdem

Miranda Kerr's "Joyce Dartry" Park Print Dress by Erdem

We don’t feature celeb looks on OMG all that often, but we just can’t get over how darling Miranda Kerr is in this prim sheath dress. This floral dress by Erdem is fit for both bridal showers on the veranda, brunches in the garden, and maybe even tea with the Queen. The intricate summery floral print has a mixture of black, blue, pink, and white that will beautifully compliment both silver and gold jewelry or accessories. While I don’t have the body of a VS Angel or runway model, I do think many body types can pull off fitted or tailored variations of the sheath dress, especially since the print is so busy. Obviously perfect for the day, but also fun for nigh whent edged up with bold accessories.

Erickson Beamon Pretty in Punk Crystal Collar

Erickson Beamon Pretty in Punk Crystal Collar

If you have some serious cash to drop on a statement bib necklace, let me introduce you to the Pretty in Punk Crystal Collar by Erickson Beamon. Although pricey, this is a piece that will instantly chic up any outfit, even if you’re wearing a measly potato sack. I just adore the dusty lilac and lavender hued crystals intricately laid out among other clear swarovski crystals of various sizes and shapes. It’s got a vintage feel and true designer price tag. Aside from the cost, I think this general style of necklace is a great piece to add to your collection since it can look amazing styled with a collared shirt, t-shirt, or dress; really anything you grab out of your closet.

MAC ‘Prep + Prime’ Highlighter Radiant Rose

MAC 'Prep + Prime' Highlighter Radiant Rose

The MAC Prep + Prime brush-on highlighter pen has nonstop buzz in the beauty blogger community right now and I’ve definitely caught the fever. Part brightener and part concealer, this pink-tinted product can be brushed on the delicate skin beneath the eyes to help color correct and cancel out any purple or blue pigmentation or under-eye circles you may have. From the numerous video reviews I’ve watched, the consistency looks very pigmented yet extremely creamy and blendable. I’ve only tried a handful of these brush-on brighteners/concealers from the drugstore, so this one by MAC already sounds like it could be a winner. If the pink-tinted element isn’t your thing, check out the same product in the more yellow/neutral undertoned Light Boost.
