Pin-up Darling Soiree Crochet Dress Top

Pin-up Darling Soiree Crochet Dress Top

Have you ever seen a lace pattern so lovely? Somewhere between the retro days of classic pin-up starlets and the present, you find this sheer party frock by Pin-up Darling. Founded in 2011, Pin-up Darling is an indie clothing brand inspired by the charming ’40s and ’50s style era, yet still has a wearable vibe that fits with today. I’m pretty much in love with everything they carry, but this dress really caught my eye as one of the most unique designs from the brand. Since it is a crochet style, you will need to wear a slip underneath, but that’s where you can get creative with it. Layer it with a black slip for an elegant look, or a nude slip for a flirty boho look; either way you can reinvent it with accessories fit for each occasion. So many soirees, so little time!

p.s. it seems to be the perfect tunic length, so depending on your height, you could wear this as either a dress or top!

Shade for You Dress

Shade for You Dress

In this edition of ModCloth Monday, we bring another great dress find. I find that lace can work year-round, and a dress with lace with full sleeves is a versatile piece that can work for any occasion. Sassy enough for nighttime, but also subdued enough for the day, this dress is perfect for when you just don’t know what to wear. Will look fabulous paired with t-strap heels, a sock bun, and teardrop earrings.

OASAP Polka Dot Flouncing Zipped Dress

OASAP Polka Dot Flouncing Zipped Dress

How darling is this dress? I’m currently fawning over this affordable find from OASAP, featuring a flouncy shape, sweetheart neckline, and flirty sheer sleeves. I love this type of LBD because it’s something you can easily reinvent with accessories and the seasons. Mix with colored tights, riding boots, or a metallic belt for something a little more fall-inspired, and pair with a wide-brimmed hat, sunnies, or a casual messy fishtail braid in the spring.

BB Dakota Amris Lace Short

BB Dakota Amris Lace Short

Although it was doom and gloom weather today in SF (read: overcast & sprinkling), I’m dreaming of warmer climates in far away places. I absolutely love mixing up and showing off textures in summer looks because they don’t get lost under winter layers, and these crochet lace shorts by BB Dakota are just the thing for me. I would love to pair them with a sheer blouse or tailored collared shirt, of course with some high wedges and a fun tote. Crocheted shorts are popping up everywhere this summer, so don’t get left behind on the trend. Scoop up this summer essential before it sells out, or your “summer” weather ends if you live in SF like me.

Laced Drape Dress

Laced Drape Dress

By now, this model has probably taken over the front page of OMGbuymeTHIS. We just adore NASTYGAL and their entire inventory. A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon this show-stopping number and I can’t get it out of my head. The peek-a-boo sheer lace insert and hem coupled with flirty hip-hugging ruched detailing make it the quintessential sexy party dress, with a slight twist. The muted mocha taupe shade looks great with gold accessory adornments or a vibrant pout, or perhaps with pearls or a cropped fur shrug. When the New Years rush at the gym dies down a bit, I’ll be ready to hit “order” and plenty eager wear this out on the town.

Nine to Nine Skirt

Nine to Nine Skirt

The toughest part of creating a ModCloth Monday post has got to be narrowing down our favorites, as there are just way too many. As a busy professional, I’m always on the prowl for easy, convertible pieces to take from day to night without having to stop at home to change. This skirt is just that. Refined and polished with a tucked in crisp white blouse, this pencil skirt lined with asymmetrical lace is powerful, flirty and fun. And most importantly, SFW and happy hour alike.
