Bella Terra Cosmetics Mineral Foundation

Bella Terra Cosmetics Mineral Foundation

In the summer, I know it can be hard to go through the motions of applying a full face of makeup, let alone a liquid foundation. While I personally do not have a lot of experience in the mineral foundation category, I know when I do dabble in it I’m going to look for products that are more natural but yet effective. That’s why Bella Terra’s line sparked my interest, since their long-lasting mineral foundation formula contains only 4 pure and raw ingredients. Since I have sensitive and acne-prone skin, I have to be super careful what I apply on my face. This mineral foundation is recommended by dermatologists and cosmetologists alike for skin of any color or age. The soft and silky mineral formula can blend away redness and blemishes, giving your skin a more even and radiant appearance. People also say it doesn’t even feel like you’re wearing makeup, something that we could all appreciate in the middle of summer. So sign me up… I think I’m ready to make the move to mineral!

Diorskin ‘Forever’ Fluid Flawless Perfection Foundation

Diorskin 'Forever' Fluid Flawless Perfection Foundation

When people tell me my skin is looking great, I’m 9 times out of 10 wearing this Dior foundation. I have acne-prone, sensitive, oily to combination skin that is very hard to please. My skin is super finicky and it’s not often it has a good day. I struggle with subtle fine lines (read: crows feet), dry patches, blackheads, redness, and dark circles, like many of us, so it’s really hard to find a foundation that caters to all of my diverse skin needs. This foundation is a miracle worker for me, and it’s worth dropping a little extra cash on. Not only is this foundation long-wearing, it has a lightweight feel that is incomparable to anything I’ve ever tried. It does not leave you feeling like you have a foundation mask on – it just feels like skin! The coverage is absolutely fantastic too – it’s medium to full coverage with a very natural, semi-matte finish. For everyday wear, this foundation packs SPF 25 PA+++ so you’ll be covered for a small amount of sun exposure. I also love that this foundation is very forgiving to the occasion dry patches on my face which are very troublesome with other products because they cling to them and make them appear worse. In short, Diorskin Forever is the perfect foundation that doesn’t look or even feel like a foundation. Definitely ask for a sample when you’re next at Nordstrom; if you have finicky skin concerns like me, you’re going to love it.

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation

Revlon Colorstay foundation is a cult-favorite beauty product and the whipped version of their popular foundation launched and was very well received in 2012. As a loyal high-end foundation wearer – I swear by Estee Lauder and Dior – I bought this on the sole recommendation of other beauty bloggers who claimed this was a great, long-wearing foundation with amazing coverage. So I tried out shade 200 Sand Beige, which ended up being a perfect shade match and it really did last through my long 10+ hour days. Applied best with a buffing brush, Beauty Blender sponge, our just your fingers (my fave), a thin layer of this foundation gives off a great coverage, and two thin layers give you an absolutely flawless look. The finish is matte to satin and should be set with a finely-milled powder to really last all day, especially if you have oily skin. I’m so glad I found this foundation last year since it’s a great alternative to my other pricier foundations, that actually stacks up!

Mineral Fusion Pressed Powder Foundation

Mineral Fusion Pressed Powder Foundation

I recently covered this item in my July Favorites video and I’m kind of obsessed. This pressed powder foundation by Mineral Fusion is medium to full on the coverage but light to the touch, so it makes a great setting powder for that flawless face or a great summertime powder foundation when worn alone. The finish is matte and really smooths out complexion beautifully. The formula is free of parabens, fragrance, and talc so it is hypo-allergenic and safe for sensitive skin. This product is also gluten free and does not test on animals. Not to mention, this product is also packed full of antioxidants to help protect your skin from free radical damage. The powder is super finely milled, so it’s not just a natural product, it’s a product that genuinely outperforms others laden with chemicals and artificial preservatives. What’s not to love?

MAKE UP FOR EVER Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation

MAKE UP FOR EVER Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation

Even in the dead of winter, some of us are still plagued by oily skin, so I’d like to share with you one of my favorite foundations to combat those annoying, embarrassing, and untimely oil slicks. This oil-free liquid foundation from MAKE UP FOR EVER is highly concentrated and dries to a powder-like touch that doesn’t even need a finishing powder to set. It provides a flawless finish with only a little bit of product, and it’s my choice foundation for going out at night since it’s super lightweight and lacks an SPF (which my daytime foundation has) which can sometimes cause a whitecast in flash photography. This is a staple product in my evening and summer makeup bag, so I definitely wanted to recommend this to readers dealing with oilier skin.
