Montecristi Hats

Montecristi Hats - Panama Hats

If you’re like me, then you’ve got travel on your mind. I honestly have it on my mind 24/7, but especially now thinking of summery and warm destinations where I can switch up my style and wear outfits I wouldn’t normally wear at home. One hat that is synonymous with warm destinations are Panama Hats, which I only recently learned aren’t even necessarily unique to Panama. The hat has an interesting history related to a very famous photo of President Teddy Roosevelt at the Panama Canal wearing a distinctive hat, but in fact the hat was a Montecristi hat hailing from Ecuador. Obviously since the opening of the Panama Canal was such a monumental historical event, the context of the hat got lost in the mix. The Montecristi hat is made of toquilla straw which grows in Ecuador, and is handmade by artisans in Ecuador in the province of Manabi. Name aside, I can’t think of a better hat for a warm destination. You can wear the Montecristi hat with a suit, sundress, bikini, or literally anything else. Somehow, someway, they can look dressy and casual at the same time. Men and women look equally fabulous in them. Depending on your budget, Ecuadorian Hands offers a huge variety of Montecristi hat styles, trims, and weave quality, giving you truly the exact hat you’re dreaming of. They also come in a variety of natural colors and even pastel shades. Whether you go for something classic or something more ornate, I can’t think of a better pieces to finish off an outfit. And by the way, these hats ship free anywhere in the world!

Tokyo Tort Square Cat Eye Sunglasses

Tokyo Tort Square Cat Eye Sunglasses

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect cat eye shades, and these tortoiseshell beauts have got to be the pair for me. I was always a classic black sunglasses kind of girl; never opting for much bling or embellishments. But lately, I’ve just been loving rich textures and classic patterns that have come and gone out of style over the past decades, iconic styles such as argyle, houndstooth, paisley, chevron, and of course, tortoiseshell. These frames have a dramatic lift at the corners for just the effect I’m going for that will look great with hair worn down or up. I also like that the lenses are plenty tinted; I never go for anything semi-sheer for personal style preference but also since my pupils are extremely sensitive to light. At $98, I think these sunnies are a bargain and even a justifiable cost if they end up being a trend I never return to. You never know… I might change my mind again in another few years.

Elizabeth Anne Shoes Purse n’ Boots Brown Walking Boots

Elizabeth Anne Shoes Brown Walking Boots

Classic tall riding boots are a shoe I could live in all year here in San Francisco. Even on the tail end of spring and the cusp of summer, we get some really odd freezing cold days where the coastal fog takes over and any stranger might think it was a typical day in February. And as a SF girl on the go, I also like carrying just my bare necessity items with me if I’m meeting up for drinks, dinner, or dessert with friends at night; you won’t catch me ever going out with a humongous purse. The same goes for when I’m out running errands; I find my purse just gets in the way and it’s one more thing to carry. That’s why when I found these boots by Canadian designer and entrepreneur Elizabeth Anne, I knew they were designed with the city girl in mind. These are innovative and stylish boots with slim pockets for your bare essentials built inside!

Scheduled for release this September, these classic brown leather riding boots with this innovative slim pocket feature are available for preorder now. The ‘European’ style boot, pictured above, features the designers signature “Purse n’ Boots” creation: a handy pouch in the shaft of the boot with slots for your credit card, passport, and smartphone. As in, it will work for iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and Blackberry users! Made of a genuine cowhide leather, I just love the vintage finish these boots have. They’re not only practical, but very stylish! What’s also wonderful is that there are two calf sizes available  which few shoe manufacturers offer, ever. I think I will absolutely live in these when it comes to going out year-round in SF. Perfect for rocking with a dress, jacket, and you’re out the door… no purse needed!

OASAP Slant Single Breasted Belted PU Trench Coat

OASAP Slant Single Breasted Belted PU Trench Coat

Every morning I reach for a trench on my way out the door, and while I dream of one day having a gorgeous go-to Burberry trench, I know it’s smarter to consider buying mid-range coat first. My two trusted trenches from H&M and Forever 21 are great, but there’s room for another. I’m loving the look of this slanted cut belted trench by OASAP, an online retailer I recently discovered that I’m excited to make my first purchase at. The open collar gives the coat a really different look, and the brown is truly timeless.

Chelsea Crew Detour Lace-Up Boots

Chelsea Crew Detour Lace-Up Boots

This year I’ve really expanded my boot collection, but I’m still missing just the classic Oxford-style lace up boots. I love these by Chelsea Crew (no relation), because of the high top style, cognac color, and stacked heel. They’re not too high so they seem very walkable and all around perfect for both work or weekend wear. At less than $80, these boots are a great mid-range find.
