Aquaffinity Soothing Solution Facial Moisturizer

Aquaffinity Soothing Solution Facial Moisturizer

Never in my life have I had perfect skin, so I’m always on the hunt for the next thing to help keep my skin clear, hydrated, and protected, but without the use of excessive chemicals. This product by Aquaffinity lacks many irritants found in other powerful facial creams, yet it’s still effective. Originally geared to sooth irritated skin suffering from rosacea, this lightweight and gentle moisturizer is specially formulated for sensitive skin. It also combats sebum production, helping keep your pores clog-free. So with its properties that help sooth redness and reduce the appearance of pores, I think this is something worth trying for my sensitive, sometimes problematic skin. Plus, it’s formulated without parabens and is vegan and non-comedogenic.

Ultima Pure Swiss Hyaluronic Serum

Ultima Pure Swiss Hyaluronic Serum

If you’ve never heard about the skin health benefits from using hyaluronic acid, you better listen up. Hyaluronic acid is a compound found in the skin to help us retain moisture, but as we age our body produces and contains less of it. To make up for this deficiency  you can take supplements or use hyaluronic acid-infused skin care products. ULTIMA Pure Swiss Hyaluronic Serum will give you a dose of this powerful humectant geared to help your skin keep a more youthful glow. Hyaluronic acid not only helps your skin retain moisture, but it also helps fight free radicals, prevent signs of aging, and promote radiance. Delivering it in serum is great because it can penetrate deep into the skin before your moisturizer and sunscreen are layered on top. It’s something someone of any age and skin type can incorporate into their routine. Plus, it’s a really affordable serum unlike the majority of those on the market.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser

We’re going to briefly talk about something not so glamorous here: acne. As someone who’s struggled with acne on and off for the greater part of my life, I can tell you it sucks. It really really sucks when you feel like you’ve invested over hundreds of dollars in skin care products and treatments that are suboptimal. They work kind of, sort of, for a little bit, then your acne pokes through again, and it comes back with a vengeance. It’s even worse when it’s that certain time of the month when your hormones are all out of whack, and you get a super painful pimple to deal with that you feel everyone honing in on. It’s hard to even look people in the eye for fear they might start staring at your acne.

So in short, I’ve been there and I know how bad it can be. That’s why I’m so glad I finally tried this gel cleanser by La Roche-Posay that has instantly cleared up my skin after just a few washes. The pores around my nose are noticeably less clogged and dark looking. The large painful pimples on my forehead and chin have diminished. Not to mention, my overall skin condition has improved 10-fold, and I’m having a lot of “good skin days” lately that I’ve never experienced before. It dries up acne without overdrying or stripping your skin of moisture. This is a cleanser totally worth trying if you’ve had it with acne!

Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter

Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter

Since I’ve been showing a little more leg on vacation, and starting to self tan more regularly, I’ve made it a habit to moisturize my skin religiously every day as soon as I get out of the shower. Besides my 100% pure unrefined extra virgin coconut oil I apply at night, I use a lighter product that absorbs more quickly in the day and I’ve recently been stuck on Pacifica’s Body Butter in Tuscan Blood Orange. This is a fabulous natural product that contains high quality ingredients like shea butter, almond and safflower seed oil, and mango butter. The scent is absolutely strong, bright ,and citrusy, with subtle finishing notes of Madagascar vanilla. While this is a thick body butter, I find that it blends well over my legs and arms and doesn’t leave me waiting long to put on my clothes after application. Nourishing enough to be a daily hand cream and body moisturizer, I was using this product non-stop last week on my trip to Kansas City, where I was strutting a little more skin on the hot and humid Midwest days. I just love that this product is paraben-free, cruelty-free, and 100% vegan. Replacing it will be a breeze, too, because this product is thankfully carried at Target!

Bioderma Créaline H2O Ultra-Mild Non-Rinse Cleanser

Bioderma Créaline H2O Ultra-Mild Non-Rinse Cleanser

If you saw me at the end of my last visit to France in October 2011, you might have been appalled by how many bottles of this stuff I put in my luggage to take back home to the US. Since then this product has really blown up in the beauty blogger community, but I’d like to think I was an early adopter of this wonderful product so much so that I got slapped with a “HEAVY” sticker on my suitcase. Bioderma is the most gentle makeup remover cleanser I’ve ever tried; suitable for all skin types. The formula is water-based and is ultra soothing; it doesn’t sting, burn, or tingle at all. It works fabulous as a gentle makeup remover that doesn’t leave you oily or dehydrated after use. It’s so great of a product that it sounds almost too good to be true… well, let me just inform you straight up that it is nearly impossible to find in America, but there is hope online! But with that convenience comes a cost. Even for 500ml of this magical solution, $39 is a little outrageous considering you could get two 500ml bottles in a French pharmacy for less than €17. Even with the poor USD-EUR exchange rate fluctuations in the Euro’s favor, that price is an absolute steal. As long as I don’t have a France trip on the books, I guess online shopping will have to do and I’m so glad I found an online store that carries it. Looks like I’m set for now, but for my next friend visiting La France, you now what favor I’m going to ask of them.
