We’re going to briefly talk about something not so glamorous here: acne. As someone who’s struggled with acne on and off for the greater part of my life, I can tell you it sucks. It really really sucks when you feel like you’ve invested over hundreds of dollars in skin care products and treatments that are suboptimal. They work kind of, sort of, for a little bit, then your acne pokes through again, and it comes back with a vengeance. It’s even worse when it’s that certain time of the month when your hormones are all out of whack, and you get a super painful pimple to deal with that you feel everyone honing in on. It’s hard to even look people in the eye for fear they might start staring at your acne.

So in short, I’ve been there and I know how bad it can be. That’s why I’m so glad I finally tried this gel cleanser by La Roche-Posay that has instantly cleared up my skin after just a few washes. The pores around my nose are noticeably less clogged and dark looking. The large painful pimples on my forehead and chin have diminished. Not to mention, my overall skin condition has improved 10-fold, and I’m having a lot of “good skin days” lately that I’ve never experienced before. It dries up acne without overdrying or stripping your skin of moisture. This is a cleanser totally worth trying if you’ve had it with acne!

Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter

Since I’ve been showing a little more leg on vacation, and starting to self tan more regularly, I’ve made it a habit to moisturize my skin religiously every day as soon as I get out of the shower. Besides my 100% pure unrefined extra virgin coconut oil I apply at night, I use a lighter product that absorbs more quickly in the day and I’ve recently been stuck on Pacifica’s Body Butter in Tuscan Blood Orange. This is a fabulous natural product that contains high quality ingredients like shea butter, almond and safflower seed oil, and mango butter. The scent is absolutely strong, bright ,and citrusy, with subtle finishing notes of Madagascar vanilla. While this is a thick body butter, I find that it blends well over my legs and arms and doesn’t leave me waiting long to put on my clothes after application. Nourishing enough to be a daily hand cream and body moisturizer, I was using this product non-stop last week on my trip to Kansas City, where I was strutting a little more skin on the hot and humid Midwest days. I just love that this product is paraben-free, cruelty-free, and 100% vegan. Replacing it will be a breeze, too, because this product is thankfully carried at Target!
